A "Man of God"

This is my older brother Arthur (65). God took him home today. My younger sister Linda and I always called him our "favorite" brother and we were his "favorite" sisters. His life was dedicated to his faith, doing God's work and being with his family. We will miss his simple ways, his sweet smile and his big hugs.

Wildlife Refuge

Okay, these are the last shots from my trip to Oklahoma. Actually, I didn't take these because the day Linda took me there I forgot my camera. Linda went back after my visit and took some shots of the refuge and some of its inhabitants (buffalo and Texas longhorn). Because they've had so much rain everything was so green and beautiful.

The Little Chapel

April 5, 1963...my wedding day! Bill and I were married here 44 years ago when it was owned by Centenary Methodist Church. The MYF (Youth Fellowship) met in this chapel for many years until it was sold and became a historical landmark. Everytime I go and visit family in Lawton I always drive around and take lots of pictures (I think I got that from Anna!). My sister Linda took me all over and we saw Texas longhorn, buffalo and lots of rain!! I had a wonderful visit and miss them already. Love to you all...

Wayne's Drive Inn

This is the famous "Wayne's Drive Inn" that I frequented as a high school student (many years ago!) here in Lawton. They still have "Sissy Burgers", REAL "Cherry Cokes" and more! It was the place to go and just drive around in circles and visit friends all hours of the day or night. We have brought our children and grandchildren to visit here and now this is "the place" to come when you are in Lawton.

My Family - Lawton, OK

Hello from Lawton! I'm here visiting my dad, sister Linda and brother Arthur for the next few days. I was born in Kinston, NC but I grew up here where my dad was stationed for most of his military career. God has blessed me with a wonderful family here and I cherish all of them so much. My dad is doing very well for his 88 years. Linda who I lovingly call my "favorite sister" is my best friend. And, my older brother, well, he radiates his faith and loves being out on his land. He has built a small home for himself outside Lawton...very simple and just enjoys being with family and friends.

As for me, I am still waiting for my luggage which went somewhere else! So I have no camera, no phone charger and last but not least no clothes!

Happy Father's Day!

This is a picture of my dad (Art) taken about 3 years ago with his 11 great-grandchildren when he came to visit us in Kentucky along with my brother & sister. Our 3 children were their only grandchildren. My mom (Hazel) and dad were awesome grandparents and great-grandparents! Mom passed away in Dec., 2002. Dad is now 88 years old. I want him to know how much I love him and look forward to my visit with him, my brother Arthur & sister Linda next week (6/21). Dad is retired from the Army and lives in Lawton-Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. We love you Dad...Happy Father's Day! Bill & Alice

God's Precious Gifts

It's been a few days since I posted...a few very full days! I wanted you to meet the three blessings in my life (besides a wonderful husband (Bill) of 44 years. My children (Anna, Bill, III and Kim) have always been there for me, both the good times and the difficult times. I love how their lives and that of their spouses are grounded in their faith and they have instilled that in their children (our 11 beautiful grandchildren!). To them...thank you for who you are now and for where you are going in life. I love you dearly.

Gardenias...

My husband bought me this bush when we first moved back to Raleigh in 2001. Every year it blooms 2 or 3 times during the summer and it looks like a ball of popcorn. The fragrance is wonderful...it reminds me of my mom who is with the Lord now...this was her favorite flower.

Have a blessed week...

Slivva of a NC Moon

This is what we in North Carolina call a "Slivva" of a moon! I hope you can see the beautiful star beside it (Venus?). I am a lover of the stars in the sky and a beautiful moon. Also, after a long day a work I came home to a wonderful husband who had planned a great dinner...wine & and a beautiful night sitting outside...actually dinner was the wine!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Carolina Blue Skies

Today ends a 3-day off period for me...back to work I go! Since these last few days have been so beautiful I have spent some of my time outside. Today's picture is of the blue skies in NC taken from my reading spot on our deck. It reminds me of Psalm 104 which is filled with praises of God's spendor and majesty.

Summer Blooms

Gerber daisies are one of my favorite flowers ever! This group is planted in a pot on our deck. When I first took this picture about 3 weeks ago this was the only bloom but now it has about 5 blooms of red and orange.

Mother's Day

My first post and it's a special day in my life. This is a picture of my "Mother's Day flowers". The gerber daisies are from my oldest daughter Kim. My husband, Bill, had this all set up when I came downstairs this morning. I am blessed with 3 wonderful children and I heard from all of them today. I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day.
